We recently moved and have been doing updates around the house to give it a fresher feel. One of the biggest things we wanted to change was the paint to change the overall ambiance. However, considering that I am 8 months pregnant myself and my husband doesn’t have the patience for painting large rooms, we were on the hunt for someone to help us out- and I ideally wanted to find someone local, but with great reviews. Lo and behold, I stumbled onto APR Painting. Actually, I saw his wife promoting him in a Facebook group when people were looking for recommendations for painters, and I was drawn to that because that’s what I would totally be doing if it were my husband’s business. After looking them up more thoroughly, I saw that they did have a lot of really positive reviews, so I thought I would give them a try. Armando Perez is the owner and he is AWESOME. So nice, prompt, and completely professional- I couldn’t say more nice things.
We got our kitchen and the shared nursery/toddler room painted. After seeing some positive reviews, I found my way over to their website and quickly scheduled a time and date. They came right on schedule and got to work right away. We had a hard drive issue and lost the before picture, but please try and picture how it was: a crazy dark tan/beige that had no personality, tons of patchy drywall spots, and several holes in the wall. Everything is now smooth and beautiful…it’s a dream!
My husband was actually home for this part since I got called into work, but he showed up right at the scheduled time after re-confirming the night before that nothing had changed for us. They got to work taking out shelves and switch plates as well as patching up the several nail holes and ripped drywall spots in the two rooms. My husband called me at work a couple of times to give me updates on the progress. He is usually kind of standoffish about newer people in the house, but he felt so comfortable with them he didn’t have a single worry about leaving to run a needed errand . A couple coats of paint and a few hours later and the rooms were unrecognizable! I came home from work to freshly painted and dried walls, shelves and switch plates replaced, and not a whiff of smelly paint in either room. To say I was beyond impressed (and pleased!) is an understatement.
The picture on the top is the before and the picture on the bottom is the after. It’s hard to tell with the before picture since it’s a copy, but the paint was actually incredibly streaky and didn’t look smooth at all. There were also patchy drywall spots and a noticeable line from where a wall was knocked out. Armando’s team came in, patched the holes, took down shelves, made the wall smooth and even, and put the shelves and switch plates back. Perfection.
To sum it up: Prompt. Fairly large job done in a few hours. Professional. Work was well done. Also loved the fact that they are a truly local business and you got the vibe that this was a neighbor doing great work and supporting his family, which makes me want to call him again even more for my next projects.
On to the giveaway…after contacting Armando to let him know how happy we were with the job, APR Painting has agreed to do a giveaway for a free interior painting of one room! This will include up to two coats of paint AND they will provide the paint- you just let them know the color. How awesome is that?!
Leave us a comment at the bottom of this page telling us what updates you’re making around the house- it’s that easy. One entry per email address. It may take a little bit for your comment to show because we approve each comment individually. Also, we won’t use your email address for anything other that to contact you if you win- promise. We hate spam too.
We’re a little off schedule this week so this giveaway will run until Sunday, January 10th at 8pm. We will announce the winner Monday morning on the 11th.
If you’re interested in getting some work done outside of the giveaway, APR Painting also does exterior work, pressure washing, and cabinet refacing. I can’t speak to those jobs specifically yet, but I do know that I will be calling them back for some other rooms I need done very soon. Support a local business and let them know you heard about them on The Triangle Review when you contact them for a quote. They can be found:
