The triangle is chalk full of really good burgers and Only Burger adds to that chalk. Only Burger has two brick and mortar locations; one is off of Shannon Road in south Durham and the other is its newest location off of Blackwell Street in downtown. I went to their food truck, which is always parked on the NC-State campus on Wednesdays. Due to Only Burgers’ concise menu, the truck offers all the goodness that the restaurant does.
I had a simple burger with lettuce, tomatoes, and onion. One of the really good things about Only Burger is that many toppings are free such as Jalapeños and grilled mushrooms. The secret to a really good burger is the quality of the meat. Only Burger grinds its own meat daily and you can taste the difference.
The fries are made from whole potatoes; if you got to any brick and mortar location, you can actually see them stick a whole potato into a potato French fry guillotine. I don’t know why so many locally owned restaurants use frozen French fries that always come out oily and gross. Their French fries are crisp, but not oily and consistently good.
Is Only Burger the best burger in the Triangle? Not sure I can say that, but it is definitely the best burger at a under $10 price point in the Triangle by far.
